Waldeck to Hemfurth

Short description

The Urwald trail takes you from the Schlossberg parking area along the city walls to the Elsterberg hill. Here you can enjoy a gorgeous 360° panorama.  After passing the city you will immerse yourself in the wood and discover its steep slopes. At the Ziegenberg the route takes you across the schistose ground of a scraggy oak and beech wood. After crossing the “Teufelsbrücke”, devil’s bridge, you can hike to the Kanzel observation deck. Naturally fallen tree trunks lie on the path, so pay attention and wear resistant shoes!

From the Kanzel observation deck you can enjoy a breathtaking lake panorama. Underneath, on the cliffy slope you will marvel at the impressive, partly audacious tree conformations of the virgin forest.
This attractive hiking trail continues to the extreme forests of the Uhrenkopf mountain. Here, at the Klippen lookout, you will see how big the dam is!   The trail takes you along the wood slope and, after crossing the bridge in Hemfurth, you reach the e.on-information center.
